B.G. Sentenced to 14 Years in Prison
B.G., the ex-Cash Money rapper famous for his appearances on songs like "I Need a Hot Girl," "Tha Block Is Hot" and "Bling Bling" has been sentenced to 14 years in federal prison for gun possession and witness tampering, the Times-Picayune reports.
Born Christopher Dorsey, the former Hot Boys member had pled guilty to felony possession of a firearm as a previously convicted felon in 2009. Later, however, he added to his troubles by pressuring a younger associate who was arrested with him to claim ownership of the gun.
Throughout the trial, prosecutors painted a portrait of B.G. as a reckless gangster who bragged about associations with known murder suspects and contributed to a "cycle of violence" in the city of New Orleans.
In her ruling, U.S. District Judge Ginger Berrigan called the rapper's career "just deplorable and sad."
B.G.'s last album, Too Hood 2 Be Hollywood, was released in 2009. He's released numerous mixtapes in recent years, including a pair with friends Juvenile and Lil Boosie, who was cleared of first degree murder charges in May.
