Kanye West Says A ‘Jesus Is Born’ Album Is Dropping On Christmas
Kanye West has yet to release his Jesus Is King album, which is expected to arrive Friday (Oct. 25). But the Chicago legend is already looking ahead to his next project.
The “Jesus Walks” rapper sat down for a rare interview with Beats 1 radio host Zane Lowe where he discussed the project and how his life has changed since his newfound faith. In the recorded interview, which was aired on Thursday (Oct. 24), he discussed his highly anticipated album, which was pushed back to Oct. 25 after months of delays to coincide with his Jesus Is King IMAX film.
Ye admitted that he’s still finishing verses and will be back in the studio tonight putting the final touches on Jesus Is King. The 42-year-old gave a little insight into how the process has been going, saying that Clipse’s No Malice had just sent him a “second verse idea.”
He then said that he already has plans to release a sequel inspired by his Sunday Service performances this coming Christmas. He said it will be titled Jesus Is Born.
'[A] Sunday Service album, Jesus is Born, is coming on Christmas,' he stated
He didn’t share any further details. So far, Kim Kardashian-West, who has proactively been keeping fans updated, hasn’t posted anything on social media about it either.
It’s unclear if the album will be another gospel-inspired work. It could very well be a live album given that Kanye has been performing reworked gospel versions of popular songs from him and other artists at his choir-backed Sunday Services. Choir vocals were featured heavily in the preview trailer for his IMAX film, so the idea is not too far-fetched.
At this point, all Kanye needs to do is deliver on his promise to drop Jesus Is King first, which is supposed to drop on Friday, October 25.
