Birdman Says Joint Lil Wayne/Drake Album Is Coming \r

He says the game needs something younger.

Always the entrepreneur, Birdman isn't letting all the buzz surrounding Jay-Z's and Kanye West's collaboration LP go by untapped. The Cash Money Records co-founder recently talked to XXLmag.com about his own label's anticipated collaboration effort — a joint Lil Wayne and Drake album. Birdman assures that the project is on the way.

“Wayne and I recently talked about [it]. That’s definitely going to get done,” Birdman said of the joint Weezy and Drizzy project.

According to Baby, the Young Money Cash Money tag team album will be distinguished from Watch the Throne because Jay-Z and Kanye are getting over the hill.

“It’s older versus younger,” he said. “I listened to a few songs [off Watch the Throne] and it feels like an older feel to me. I think with Drake and Wayne, they young. They young cats. You got 23 and 28 [Editor's note: Drake will turn 25 this October]. Then you got Jay-Z and them, who are older and really on their way out the game. Then you got Wayne and Drake and them, who are still youthful to the game. So, it’s two different types of music all the way across the board."

Wayne and Drake's album, for now at least, is youthful to the point of being pre-mature. The project wouldn't begin to take shape until sometime after the two stars finish the promotion of their own pending solo albums. Lil Wayne's Tha Carter IV hits stores August 29, and Drake's sophomore effort, Take Care, arrives October 24.
