Twitter Rallies For Lizzo To Play Ursula In Live-Action 'The Little Mermaid'
Disney is cranking out live-action remakes of its classic fairy tales, with The Little Mermaid next on the list to be produced. While the studio is said to be in the early stages of piecing together the project, early reports claim they may have already found the actress to portray the story's villain, Ursula, and Twitter isn't here for their choice.
According to Variety, Melissa McCarthy is a front-runner for the role. The site reports that, while the deal is "not yet completed," she is in early talks to play the iconic sea witch in the live-action adaptation of the animated film.
Twitter, on the other hand, already had someone else in mind for the role: singer Lizzo. In fact, the "Juice" songstress agrees with the internet's sentiment as she reposted a video of her in full-on Ursula cosplay from 2018, recreating one of her popular scenes from the film.
Take a look, below:
While Twitter has tossed a few additional names into the ring — Titus Burgess, Queen Latifah, Keala Settle and Danielle Brooks — Lizzo certainly got the most electric reception.
