Find Out the Incredible Reason Tyrese Called Off the Custody War With His Ex
Who could think a celebrity custody-battle story could have a heartwarming, and life-affirming ending? Well, Tyrese and his ex-wife, Norma Gibson, managed to pull off just that. According to TMZ, the former couple have decided to put an end to their contentious war over their 9-year-old daughter, Shayla, and for a truly incredible reason.
If you remember, the drama between these two got so bad in recent months that Tyrese even told the court he was worried Norma would kidnap their little girl.
Well, according to the site, both Tyrese and Norma decided it was time to put their differences aside and unite as a family, all thanks to the #BlackLivesMatter movement.
Apparently, the actor and his ex were deeply shaken by the events of last week, when Alton Sterling and Philando Castile were killed by police at point-blank range and a gunman opened fire and killed five officers in Dallas, that it actually opened a door to communication.
Tyrese and Norma reportedly had a long talk about the situation in the country and realized that now is the time for Black families to stick together. Apparently, Ty and Norma thought there's no better place to start working on change than within themselves, and decided to end their custody war and figure out a way to co-parent their baby girl.
The Fast & Furious star even posted a picture as proof on Instagram:
Now, Tyrese wants to be clear that he and Norma are not getting back together, just putting their differences aside for the sake of themselves, their child and their community.
What an incredible, mature gesture and a great example not only for their own daughter, but for families everywhere. Hopefully, other celebrity couples will follow suit. Catch up on the latest between another warring couple, Future and Ciara, with BET Breaks, above.
