Triple G: I Would Destroy Mayweather
It is never a good idea to troll Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Gennady Golovkin has quickly built a reputation for being one of the sport's best knockout artist with 30 of his 33 wins coming by KO. As he continues his rise up boxing's ranks, Triple G would like nothing more than a shot at facing unbeaten champion Mayweather.
TMZ Sports caught up with Triple G on Monday, and the hard-hitting boxer called the prospect of facing Money May a "dream" and confidently predicted that he'd win big.
"This [would be an] amazing fight...this is my dream fight," Golovkin said. "I think so, I think so [that the fight could happen]. This is boxing. Of course, I beat him. This is big business. 100 percent I'm ready for anybody."
His words didn't take long to get back to The Money Team, which responded with their own statement to TMZ Sports.
"Everyone in boxing wants to fight Floyd. It's the biggest payday they could possibly have," Mayweather's camp responded by saying. "[Golovkin] has never fought a top opponent in his whole career...we're surprised you guys would even have him on your show to be honest."
Wow. With Golovkin, 33, fighting as a middleweight at 160 pounds and Mayweather, 38, being a welterweight at 147 pounds, there's a slim possibility that the two could meet in the middle at the junior middleweight bracket of 154 pounds.
With Mayweather nearing the end of his career, will it ever happen, though?
