GloRilla Talks Meeting President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris
GloRilla has become a mover and shaker in the world of politics.
On Monday (March 18), the Memphis rapper was in attendance at the White House’s Women’s History Month reception where she met with President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala.
In an interview with CNN, Laura Coates asked GloRilla what it was like to meet the leaders of the Democratic Party at the White House.
“It was so cool and I was so geeked,” GloRilla responded. “Everybody don’t get to meet the President and the Vice President. Just being able to be in the White House, like I've never been, in a million years would have thought that I would be in the White House. And got to meet the President and vice president. Oh, they can’t mess with me.”
Coates went on to share a message from GloRilla’s mother where she spoke about their humble beginnings in Memphis to now being the mom of one of rap music’s biggest stars. GloRilla shared how her mother’s words made her feel.
“It really means everything to me because we really did come from absolutely nothing. When we lived in that blue house with all my brothers and sisters, nobody would have thought that nobody would be in the White House or nothing,” she said.
“It was just a proud moment for my momma. She called me so happy, she was super excited. That’s one of the reasons I be more happy about my accomplishments than anything else because of how proud my mom and my dad are.”
During the White House event, President Biden signed a new executive order to improve research on women’s health and pledged $200 million over the next year to study the issues.
When she’s not hanging out at the White House, GloRillia is preparing to hit the road as the opening act of Megan Thee Stallion's “Hot Girl Summer” tour.
“I’M GOING ON TOUR with @theestallion on thee Hot Girl Summer Tour,” Glo said in an announcement on Instagram. “ General public tickets go on sale this Friday, March 22 at 10 am your local time.”
