11 Of The Best Tweets Celebrating #JanetJacksonAppreciationDay
This year’s Super Bowl marks the 16th year since the infamous Janet Jackson “wardrobe malfunction” between her and Justin Timberlake during the halftime show.
The whole controversy was so overblown at the time, it almost overtook Jackson’s amazing career. That’s part of the reason why fans have flipped the whole thing on its head.
“#JanetJacksonAppreciationDay is the number 1 trending topic on Super Bowl Sunday for the third straight year in a row,” former NFL player, filmmaker and Oscar nominee for Hair Love Matthew Cherry tweeted. “Shout out to @janetslegacy @Chameleon876 @janfammovement @ElginCharles @tajjackson3 and all the great #JanFam folks that help this going year round.”
Shortly after the Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show, many viewers called CBS and the FCC to complain that the breast exposure was indecent. She was even banned from the Grammys. It was clear that treated as treated more harshly than Justin Timberlake who was also part of the wardrobe malfunction but barely suffered no repercussions.

The #JanetJacksonAppreciationDay movement began in 2018 when Cherry tweeted the suggestion that such an honor should exist.
“We should do a #JanetJacksonAppreciationDay this Sunday,” he tweeted prior to the Super Bowl.
