John Singleton Drops Out of Tupac Biopic
The long-plagued biopic about Tupac Shakur just took another step backward. John Singleton is the latest director to drop out of the project, after Antonie Fuqua jumped ship when, says Complex, he realized how difficult it would be to find an actor to play the lead role.
Though Singleton didn't give a reason for ditching the project, it may have to do with a pending lawsuit against production companies Paramount Pictures and MTV Films, or perhaps his focus on the ghetto love story he's making with his Baby Boy actors Taraji P. Henson and Tyrese Gibson.
Singleton would have been a great match for a Tupac biopic given his friendship with the late rapper, and their prior collaboration on Singleton's film Poetic Justice. No word yet on how this departure will affect the development process of the film.
