Selma , Top Five Nominated for Critics' Choice Awards
Nominations for the Critics' Choice Awards have been announced, with Selma and Top Five each earning several nods.
Ava DuVernay's civil rights drama has been nominated for Best Picture, Best Acting Ensemble, Best Director for DuVernay, Best Song ("Glory" by Common and John Legend) and Best Actor for David Oyelowo, who portrays Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in the film. Oyelowo is going into the awards season strong with a number of notable performances, including a role in J.C. Chandor's drama A Most Violent Year. It was also announced today that the actor will join Lupita Nyong'o in the Oscar winner's adaptation of Amerikanah.
Top Five earned three nominations, for Best Comedy, Best Actor in a Comedy (Chris Rock) and Best Actress in a Comedy (Rosario Dawson). Other notable nominees include Quvenzhané Wallis, recognized for Best Young Actor/Actress for her role in Annie, and Zoe Saldana, who is up for Best Actress in an Action Movie for Guardians of the Galaxy.
