Model Joan Smalls has landed the cover of Vogue Italia's March issue, and what makes this pretty momentous is the fact that she's the first woman of color to grace the fashion magazine's cover since the infamous "All Black Issue" was released in July 2008 — nearly four years ago!
On the cover photo, which was shot by Steven Miesel, the Puerto Rican beauty is wearing a hodgepodge of colors, prints and jewels. Her Dolce & Gabbana brocade jacket with a jeweled button pretty much signifies the issue's only cover line: #overthetop. She pairs this with multicolored eyeshadow from Estée Lauder, animal-print nail art and some dazzling earrings from Erickson Beamon.
Smalls tweeted about the issue saying, "OMG! Woke up this morning and saw this. Dreams do come true.…"
The March issue of Vogue Italia will be on newsstands in Milan on March 2 before being released throughout Italy.
