As the wife of NBA star Carmelo Anthony, LaLa Anthony is more familiar than most with the "don't ask, don't tell" attitude toward LGBT issues that has dominated professional sports for years. But as a celebrity with a long history of championing LGBT rights, Anthony couldn't be more thrilled about the change in attitudes underway.
We talked to Anthony about her thoughts on Michael Sam, the top NFL recruit who will soon be the first openly gay player in the league. "I think it's great, and I think it's needed," she says. "It helps people who are scared to come out. We can't keep people in a box. We should all be treated fairly. So I'm happy about it."
