Gabrielle Union on Grand Jury Verdicts: 'Have Compassion for the Pain'
People across the nation, including celebrities and politicians, have been coming together to express shock, disbelief, outrage and disappointment over the grand jury verdicts for the police officers who killed Michael Brown and Eric Garner. Gabrielle Union is the latest star to share her thoughts on the recent events.
Speaking to HuffPo Live, the Being Mary Jane star urged those on both sides of the debate to "have compassion for the pain" felt by the families of the victims, and the disenfranchised citizens who are protesting the decisions.
Of the shocking video that showed Eric Garner, 43, pleading for his life as cops put him in a chokehold, Union says, "we watched a snuff film. We watched a man begging for his life...and we couldn't even get to the point [of a trial.] It infuriates me."
Union, like many others, struggles to find words to express her anger and frustration at the all-too-frequent events. Watch the rest of her emotional speech below.
