Sade's Transgender Son Announces Breast Removal Surgery On Instagram
Legendary singer Sade Adu's transgender son is taking the next steps in working to combat his gender dysphoria. Izzak Theo, formerly Mickailia “Ila” Adu, has confirmed on Instagram that he will receive breast removal surgery. Izzak first came out as a trans man in October, revealing that he had been taking hormones since April, with the caption, “Today is the first day of the rest of my life.”
Those transitioning from female-to-male (FTM) often employ chest "binding" prior to breast removal as a way to ease their dysphoria. “Binding refers to flattening breast tissue to create a male-appearing chest using a variety of materials and methods," according to TransGuys.com. If you are FTM transitioning and considering binding, be sure to read these helpful tips prior, as some makeshift means of binding can physically harm you. Proper binders can be purchased from trans-friendly companies such as Underworks and gc2b.
We love that Izzak is on the path to his most authentic life!
