Watch: D.L. Hughley Tears Up Over Black Men Being Killed By the Police
People are understandably emotional following the brutal murders of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile at the hands of police within 24 hours of each other, and one of the many speaking out about the tragedies is D.L. Hughley.
The actor appeared on CNN to speak from the heart about the fears he carries as a Black man and father to two Black sons, even though his children are grown men.
"Every Black or brown parent that I know has to have a conversation with their kids about how to act around police," he says. "I don't even go to sleep until my children come home...my grown children come home at night. I keep my clothes on in case my children need me in the middle of the night."
He continues, "I don't understand. We love our children, we love our parents, our mothers, our fathers. They're brutalized, and nobody says anything. It's too much. It's too much."
Understandably, the actor and commentator gets visibly upset speaking about the killings.
