Something to Talk About: Obama's Ballot Box Love Triangle
Barack Obama probably encountered his fair share of jealous boyfriends during his bachelor days. But he probably didn't think it was the sort of thing that would happen while voting and certainly not as leader of the free world.
While standing at a voting booth next to Aia Cooper Monday, her boyfriend, Mike Jones, issued a warning.
"Mr. President, don't touch my girlfriend now," he said, finger pointed at Cooper as he passed their adjacent booths.
"You know, I really wasn't planning on it," Obama replied.
Cooper said she knew Jones was going to "say something smart," and asked the president to "please excuse him."
Without even looking up from his ballot, "No Drama" Obama sympathized with her, as he continued to vote, saying, "Now there's an example of a brother just embarrassing you for no reason. Just for no reason whatsoever."
He then joked about what Cooper would say to her family and friends about the encounter.
“I can’t believe Mike — he is such a fool. I was just mortified," Obama joked. "Fortunately, the president was nice about it. So, it’s aiiight.”
He then gave the couple something more to talk when he hugged Cooper and planted a kiss on her cheek.
