With Christmas (and NYE) just weeks away, holiday party season is in full swing — and that means you need a fierce look to show off.

This year, retire predictable looks like smoky eyes and bright red lips and opt for something a bit more statement making. Plus, you can make everyone extra envious with bold green eyeshadow to truly pop out (and perhaps stunt on your ex!) 

“My favorite holiday look is to do an emerald green shimmer eye and a natural color lip," explains makeup artist Janice Kinjo, who works with Uzo Aduba, Mindy Kaling, Mary J. Blige, Sonequa Martin Green, Jessica Williams, Yara Shahidi and Skai Jackson, to name a few. "I love this look because it brings out your eyes in a festive way and doesn’t compete with your natural lip color," she adds.

Naturally, rocking green shadow can be completely intimidating, but Janice shares a few beauty hacks to help a sister out. 

"My favorite eye shadow to use is Giorgio Armani Beauty’s Eye Tint ($39, Sephora.com) in #4 Emerald. It has great color and lasts all night long, even during your late night holiday parties," she explains.

Her advice? Don’t be afraid to use your fingers. "[When it comes to make up] you totally can blend with your fingers."

"If you want to take your look to a new level, you can add glitter to your eyes and lips," she adds. "Mix the glitter with a pea-size amount of aloe vera and apply. The aloe will help hold the glitter."

Instead of breaking the bank for rarely used glittery eyeshadow, go to your local craft store (like Michaels). "You can still look expensive and not break your wallet," explains Janice.
