Dez Bryant Has Nuclear Locker Room Meltdown, Accuses Reporter of Racial Slur
An already tough 2015 NFL season just got worse for Dez Bryant.
With his Dallas Cowboys struggling with a 2-6 record, the star wide receiver snapped on the media during a locker room tirade Thursday, even alleging that one reporter used the N-word against him.
According to ESPN, a story that its reporter Jean-Jacques Taylor wrote about Bryant last week was his source of frustration, as Dez approached him and the two exchanged words before teammate Devin Street broke it up.
Street alleged that Taylor used a racial slur against them, which Taylor, who is Black, denied. ESPN reports that three other people present in the Cowboys locker room during open media access Thursday also stated that Taylor didn't use a racial slur.
That caused Bryant to go on a full-on rant, including calling the media "dirty" nine times. Sports writer Robert Klemko summed up the rant in a tweet:
Upon learning of Klemko's tweet, Bryant yelled, "If you're going to report something, report it right." He had to be separated from the reporter by a Cowboys public relations assistant and eventually tight end Jason Witten, who left the reporters he was speaking with to tend to the situation.
After the media sessions ended, Bryant took to his Twitter, saying: "Yeah, I blew up on the media but report why I blew up on ya'll [sic] ... Saying I don't give f**k about me and calling players n****r is not professional."
He later added:
It's been a tough year for Bryant, who missed five weeks of the season due to foot surgery, having only returned this month.
