Why Ja Rule Says 50 Cent Verzuz Battle We All Want May Not Happen
Ja Rule may no longer be battling 50 Cent in an Instagram Live Verzuz battle.
On Sunday (April 19), the New York rap veteran appeared on Hot 97 to speak about his involvement with COVID-19 relief efforts. While on the line, the hosts asked him for an update much-hyped IG Live rap battle.
“You know, I never back down from a battle. I love it and my catalogue speaks for itself. I have a great catalog. It would be dope for hip-hop...and it’s for the culture,” he expressed. “Verzuz is about love and respect for each other’s catalogue and what you’ve done for music, you know, and what you’ve contributed. I don’t know if me and him can do that because we just don’t...we’re oil and water. So, if I don’t know if that’ll work.”
JaRule continued, saying that he didn’t want his feud with the G-Unit foreman to overshadow the good that Swizz Beatz and Timbaland have accomplished with their Verzuz series.
“I would never want to disrespect the culture, and let me and his little thing get into the love and respect that Verzuz has brought into the culture for artist’s catalogs and artistry. I would never want to tarnish that or mess that up.”
When the hosts asked if there was anyone else the “I’m Real” rapper would consider for an opponent, he responded, “I’d battle anybody.”
“I’d battle [50 Cent] too if he knew how to act civil and be a grown-up,” Ja threw in. “We all know that’s not reality. The reality is, with him, you got to talk dirty to him. That’s what I mean [and] I wouldn’t disrespect Verzuz like that. Timbaland and Swizz, they don’t want that. They want this to be about love, the culture and what this music has meant to people over the years, and my music definitely brings a good vibe.”
