Shia LaBeouf Comes for Drake, Lil' Yachty and Soulja Boy in His New Freestyle
Shia LaBeouf is not shying away from cameras anymore.
In fact, he’s jumping right in front of the lens with a new knack for radio freestyles. And next up on the pursuit of his newfound hobby is a name-dropping freestyle from the former Disney Channel star where he’s taking shots at a handful of hip-hop’s mainstream players.
Sliding the track down to The Breakfast Club’s Charlamagne Tha God, LaBeouf originally requested for it to be played on the radio host’s independent podcast. The radio host tweeted that when he opened his inbox, the audio file was there waiting for him, and he would be debuting it on the Power 105.1 morning show.
“Charlamagne, can you play this on your podcast?” LaBeouf begins. Admitting that the freestyle is compiled from amateur production, a VoiceNotes app and YouTube beats to be precise, the first few bars storm immediately at Hot 97’s Rosenberg.
“Rosenburg’s the oldest turd, he knows he’s dirt,” he raps. He goes on to insult Rosenberg’s radio host profession, charging that he’s no competition to Sway and Charlamagne. “You’re a wasteman, faker than Drake’s Jamaican accent.”
Later on in the nearly 4-minute long verse, LaBeouf makes reference to Lil' Yachty’s lack of knowledge to the New York hip-hop legend Biggie Smalls and Soulja Boy’s “swag trendiness.” This counts as LaBeouf’s second shot at a freestyle verse, despite his admittance before the track begins that he’s “not a rapper.”
“Thanks for your time,” the “Disturbia actor concludes. “Happy holidays.”
Well that’s one hell of an early Christmas gift, Shia.
