Jury Seated in Michael Jackson Wrongful Death Suit
Despite a 24-page long questionnaire and estimates that jury selection may take up to three months, six men and six women have been chosen to sit for the trial of the Michael Jackson wrongful death lawsuit filed by his mother, Katherine Jackson against "This Is It" concert promoter, AEG Live.
Selection began earlier this month (April 2) from a pool of more than 100. Some candidates were excused for bias against Katherine's superstar son or multi-million dollar lawsuits (this one is a $40 billion lawsuit). Others were excused for having business ties to the Jackson family or AEG, or because the expected three-month trial service would be too much of a hardship.
The jury may be presented with evidence excluded from Dr. Conrad Murray's trial — like MJ's financial and medical records — and will weigh in on how much money, if any, will be awarded to his mom and three children, including his eldest, Paris, who wants to be a heart surgeon and open the famed Neverland ranch to underprivileged youth.
Selections for alternates is already underway.
Meanwhile, Murray's lawyer filed an appeal for his criminal conviction of involuntary manslaughter the same day jury selection was finalized (April 22).
