French Montana Says He's Taking His Time With Debut Album
French Montana's highly anticipated debut album, Excuse My French, was recently pushed from a planned summer release to this fall. But the sought-after rapper from the South Bronx isn't sweating it. In a new interview with Dutch music blog Puna, French said he's deliberately taking things slowly to make sure the album is just right.
“For the simple fact that it’s an album, I’m taking my time,” he said. “My mixtapes I take my time, but I never treated it like [an album]. The album is the big one."
French, who has collaborated with everyone from Ma$e to Waka Flocka, said his debut would feature an all-star roster of guest performers.
"You got the Weeknd, you got Max B, you got Coke Boys, you got Kanye, Big Sean, you got Wiz Khalifa. You got a lot of features, Puff, Ross,” he said.
Of all the rappers he's teamed up with, French said his emcee of choice is Ricky Rozay.
“My favorite to work with is, I would have to say Ross because he’s the best in the game right now,” said French. “It’s just us making records that was meant to be for mixtapes that become the biggest records like ‘Stay Schemin,’ ‘Straight Off the Boat.’ It’s a blessing to work with somebody like that.”
