Aside from a wardrobe malfunction in Spain and a legal battle to keep an alleged sex tape off the web, Jennifer Lopez’s star still shines, especially on the famed sidewalks of Hollywood.
The singer/actress has been named on a recent list of celebrities who will be honored with stars on the Walk of Fame in 2012. The Walk of Fame Committee of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce made the announcement on Wednesday.
To receive a star in one of three categories—film, TV or recording—the celebrity must be nominated and sponsored, usually by a publicist or a studio. According to E! Online, Lopez's publicist submitted her nomination for film on behalf of manager Benny Medina.
Other celebrities to receive stars are Boyz II Men (for recording), Vin Diesel and Scarlett Johannson.
Along with joining the sidewalk pantheon of legends, Lopez is also making plans to return to the big screen. Currently she is in talks for an action and a comedy following her appearance in the last season of American Idol.
In the action film Parker, Lopez is set to play an ex-cheerleader-turned-real-estate-agent who teams up with a thief, played by co-star Jason Statham, to pull off a daring heist. And in the comedy What to Expect When You’re Expecting, she will play an interior designer who, because she is unable to get pregnant, decides to adopt an Ethiopian child with her husband. The role of her hubby has not been cast.
Both films are scheduled for production during the gap between seasons of American Idol.
