13 Tweets Blasting American Idol's La'Porsha Renae for Saying She ‘Decided to Be Heterosexual’ Because of God
La'Porsha Renae has angered the LGBT community and many of her fans once again for some ignorant comments about lesbianism and bisexuality.
The American Idol runner up, who just last year found herself in hot water for saying she "doesn't agree" with being gay, once again made some troubling comments about sexual identity — and is getting schooled on Twitter as a result.
La'Porsha's Tweeted Her Thoughts on LGBT Issues After Some Fans Brought Up Her Past Comments:
After catching heat, she doubled down in a statement to the press:
After facing renewed criticism on Twitter for her comments about the "LGBT lifestyle" a year ago when she was asked about the celebrity boycott against North Carolina over their bigoted anti-transgender bathroom laws, Renae wrote a letter to Huffington Post essentially doubling down on her previous remarks:
“I decided to be heterosexual because I felt like that’s the life God intended me to live. My response to your skepticism is that many people walk many different strokes of life,” she wrote. “Some people believe they chose homosexuality and some believe they didn’t. Who’s to say one is wrong? It’s not fair to generalize anyone’s sexuality or walk of life.”
She continued, "I took a journey and became more grounded in my faith, and decided that I wanted to live a heterosexual life. ... Everyone should have to right to believe in what they believe in and to live their lives the way they feel they want to. Me choosing to be straight does not in any way reflect on my love for homosexuals."
Twitter isn't letting this one slide, and some folks are taking it upon themselves to school la'porsha:
