J.R. Smith Goes MMA on Celtics' Jae Crowder
NBA playoff basketball is always physical, but Game 4 of the Cleveland Cavaliers-Boston Celtics first-round series Sunday had UFC-worthy moments.
J.R. Smith was ejected from the game after he wildly swung his arm backwards while vying for a rebound, hitting Celtics forward Jae Crowder with a closed fist. Crowder crashed to the hardwood and left the game with a sprained left knee.
The MMA-like shenanigans didn't start there, however. Early in the game, Kevin Love dislocated his left shoulder after getting entangled with Celtics center Kelly Olynyk. The Cavs power forward could miss games in Cleveland's Eastern Conference semifinal series. Love called Olynyk's play "bush league," according to ESPN.
Smith could wind up missing games in the Eastern Conference semifinals if the NBA decides to suspend him. Still, the Cavs won 101-93 to complete their four-game sweep of the Celtics. LeBron James had 27 points.
