Watch: People Raised Incredible Sum of Money for the Black Employee Berated by Trump Supporter
Many supporters have stood behind a Michaels store manager after video documenting a racially motivated attack went viral, reported NBC News.
The footage showed an angry customer — identified by Heavy as a former employee of Sinai Health System — yelling at a Black employee. At one point, the irate white customer called the Black employee at the Lakeview store “an animal.”
The angry woman claimed an employee discriminated against her.
“And I voted for Trump, so there,” the woman said in the video. “What? You want to kick me out because of that? And look who won. Look who won.”
After the incident, a witness posted the video and started a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for the employee targeted in the attack.
The attack took place the day before Thanksgiving at a Michael's store in Chicago
The footage was captured and posted online by Jessie Grady, who has since created a GoFundMe page for the employee
"I was so shocked by this unprovoked attack that I captured 17 minutes of it on video on my phone," Grady wrote on the GoFundMe page. "I am starting this gofundme because I’d like to do something to try to make it up to the employee who was the main target of this racist attack. I’d like to show her that many people are horrified by how this woman treated her, and that we stand with her and appreciate her hard work."
