Dream Defenders Leader Puts Out Video After Being Cut from March

Dream Defenders leader Phillip Agnew, who was cut from speaking at March on Washington ceremonies Wednesday, has delivered his remarks through an online video.

Dream Defenders director Phillip Agnew, who was cut from speaking at an event commemorating the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington, has delivered his remarks through video on the group's website.
Agnew and leader of United We Dream Sofia Campos were scheduled to speak at the event Wednesday to represent a new generation of activists fighting for equal rights. But they were cut from the roster the day of because of "time." 
"They told me that they had run out of time, but I believe that our time is now," he said in the video. Agnew then calls on watchers to record their own two minute response and share it using #MarchOn and #MOW50. "The America of today, we inherited. But the America of tomorrow is ours," he said. 
The Dream Defenders became nationally known after they staged a 31-day protest at the Florida capital. They were calling for Gov. Rick Scott to hold a special legislative session to reform the nation's "Stand Your Ground" law following the acquittal of George Zimmerman, in the killing of Trayvon Martin. The Florida legislature voted not to hold a session to repeal the controversial law in August.
