The Internet Is Showing No Mercy For Tory Lanez After Comparing This Rapper To Tupac

"Controversy for clout." SMH.

Canadian rapper Tory Lanez dropped two albums this year, was featured countless times and has no intention of slowing down. The Chixtape emcee sat with Tim Westwood of Capital Xtra to discuss a plethora of topics like his rap beefs and reasons why he won't stop making music anytime soon. Lanez also discussed the controversy surrounding Bronx rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine.

Lanez only mentioned the Dummy Boy rapper on good terms. He's a "very good guy. The thing about it is every time I always seen him, he's always joking around... What a lot of people don't know is behind all the extra sh*t, he's a really funny, cool, warm-hearted kid, but I don't wish jail on nobody."

  • 6ix9ine is currently in jail, on charges of drug trafficking and racketeering...

Lanez felt "it's really sad" to witness someone on 6ix9ine's level spiral downward in such a detrimental way and initially compared him to Brooklyn-bred phenom Bobby Shmurda. The 24-year-old is in prison serving a seven-year sentence on conspiracy and weapons-related charges.

However, the "LUV" emcee followed up his statements to compare 6ix9ine to hip-hop legend, Tupac Shakur. "Bobby Shmurda didn't even get to go that far. For somebody to go that far [..] the only n***a to go that far on some sh*t like that was Tupac. When Tupac was in jail, he dropped like the biggest album." Prior to 6ix9ine's arrest, he was gearing up for the release of his debut album and Lanez felt "it's a pretty big moment and it's sad he's gotta be locked up during it."

  • Yet, the internet dragged Lanez to Death Row hell over the loose comparison...

  • Many felt he could've swapped out Tupac's name for other rappers who've also released music while incarcerated.
