Cardi B Will Not Face Charges After Throwing Microphone at Unruly Fan
Cardi B. will not be facing criminal charges after tossing a microphone at a concertgoer who reportedly threw liquid at her during a Las Vegas performance at Drai's Beachclub. The incident between the concert attendee and the Bronx rapper was captured on video footage.
According to TMZ, which initially broke the news, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department cleared the “WAP” emcee of any criminal wrongdoing.
“After a thorough review of this case and with the consultation from the Clark County District Attorney’s Office, this case has been closed as having insufficient evidence,” the department wrote in a statement. “No charges will be filed in relation to this case.”
During last week’s performance, the Grammy Award-winning entertainer had asked the crowd to splash water on her to cool her down. Some time after her initial request, a person in the crowd tossed an unknown liquid and ice at the rapper. Cardi responded to the actions of that concertgoer by tossing her mic at them.
The equipment in question purportedly made contact with the individual responsible. But it rebounded, inadvertently striking another woman nearby.
A report was filed the day after the incident. The filing implicated Cardi as a potential suspect in a battery incident. However, it’s unclear which one of the two parties made the complaint.
Following the weekend’s incident, venue owner Scott Fisher auctioned off the microphone on eBay. The bid is currently at $99,900.00. Proceeds from the auction will go to charities like the Wounded Warrior Project and Friendship Circle Las Vegas.
