After a No. 1 Billboard chart debut, immense raving from fans and a Grammy nomination for his studio opus, master funkateer Bruno Mars is bringing his 24K Magic sound to CBS for the Bruno Mars: 24K Magic Live at the Apollo exclusive premiere.

But by no means does the term “small screen” reflect the epic show he’ll be putting on for TV viewers nationwide who haven’t experienced the magic in real-time just yet.

Performing atop the legendary performance Apollo Theater, Bruno and his band of Hooligans kicked off a live performance of his most praised hits from the 24K Magic project. With that, however, the Hawaii-native had to work his magic such an groundbreaking performance come to life.

"I was more nervous because it almost didn't go down,” he tells BET.com. “They've never let that happen before and New York has a lot of restrictions and laws with there being crowds and us closing down the street. It almost didn't happen, and I really had my heart set on it because I thought that'd be beautiful to show the world. Fire codes and all of this stuff almost got in the way. But in the final hour, we got the approval to do it."

When the opportunity presented itself, though, Bruno made sure to grab at it. He admits that television isn’t necessarily his forte, but the excitement of bringing the performance to TV viewers was too much to bear. Two years of recording, the total time it took to bring 24K Magic on wax, was well worth it. However, as his CBS television exclusive fell perfectly in line with the vision for himself and his team.

“This was the goal for us to be dancing more, to be draped in Versace, to be razzling and dazzling everywhere we go,” he continued. “I just hope that it helps people understand the message behind this album. This feel good R&B that I try to create and making them feel like they were at a party and right there with us."
