Salt-N-Pepa’s Pepa Says She Was Unfairly Kicked Off Southwest Airlines Flight After Refusing to Give Up Seat
On Monday (July 15), Salt-N-Pepa’s Pepa was removed from a Southwest Airlines flight from Las Vegas to Nashville and considered a safety risk.
According to TMZ, the rapper purchased two seats because of the car crash she had in 2018. On the plane, a flight attendant told her she could only have one seat because she wasn’t in a cast, although wearing a knee brace. After some back-and-forth with the flight attendants, Pepa was allowed to keep the extra seat.
Then, a man came and asked for the seat, saying he was heading to a funeral. After some back-and-forths, he ended up getting the seat. Pepa called her assistant, who told her to record the encounter. A few minutes later, she was kicked off the plane. Southwest claimed it was because she was recording, and they didn’t feel safe flying with her.
Pepa posted a video of her talking with Southwest Airlines employees about the situation on her Instagram page.
The airline reimbursed Denton $2,500 for the seats. She also paid $300 for wheelchair assistance from a greeter and $500 for car service, which she didn’t get to use. The Kingston native is reportedly looking to take legal action regarding ADA violations.
