The last few years have been filled with transitions for Jennifer Lopez. From becoming a mother to ending her eight-year marriage to Latin singer Marc Anthony to finding love again, she’s learned a lot along the way. Now, she’s telling all in her new memoir, True Love.

True Love, her first book, will be published in both English and Spanish and is set for release on October 28. The memoir is styled as a series of diary entries, in which she opens up about "one of her life's most defining periods — the transformative two-year journey of how, as an artist and a mother, she confronted her greatest challenges, identified her biggest fears, and ultimately emerged a stronger person than she's ever been," according to a press release. 
But mustering the courage to actually share her truth with the world? That apparently is still a work in progress, she admits. "Even to this day, I think, 'Do I put this book out there?'" she told People magazine backstage at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards over the weekend. "I did a lot of soul searching and praying, because I don't ever want it to be mistaken for anything other than it was, which is sharing something I learned with people I could help."

"What's funny is, I didn't start off the project wanting to bare my soul in print," the American Idol judge continues. "It started off as a diary of the year I went on tour…and when I was on the road, it became something else," she said. "I really surprised myself, and I realized, 'Oh, my God, I'm writing this book.'"

While we can’t wait to get J.Lo’s insights, there’s another great reason to pick up a copy. A portion of the book’s proceeds will benefit the The Lopez Family Foundation, which aims to improve the health and well-being of women and children.
