It's hard to tell if Floyd Mayeather was trying to be insulting or genuinely didn't have a clue.

But when BoxingScene.com jokingly asked "Money" about fighting UFC champion Ronda Rousey, Mayweather responded with a deadpan delivery:

"[I] didn't know who he is," Mayweather said in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday night while continuing a promo run for his September 13 rematch against Marcos Maidana. 

One problem, champ...Rousey is a she, not a he. When enlightened about Rousey by BoxingScene's reporter, Mayweather offered: "I didn't know who that is."

Reporters probably invoked Rousey's name into the conversation because the UFC women's bantamweight champion said back in March that she'd be able to defeat Mayweather in a mixed martial arts (MMA) fight.

“I would drop down to the ground and crawl over to him as fast as I can,” Rousey told a Los Angeles radio station at the time, as reported by USA Today. “I wouldn’t even stand up, I wouldn’t be near him. I would just do a little army crawl over there…I would just be skittering after him like the one dude in Bloodsport that was doing the whole monkey crawl fight system. I would do that. I would just bear crawl over there, too low for him to hit me, and tackle him down.”

We guess Mayweather never caught wind of her comments.

Back to his upcoming rematch with Maidana, Mayweather sounded irked about how the first fight went back in May. "The fight went the way it went because he's a dirty fighter," he told reporters. 

Maidana hit Mayweather below the belt, kneed him and did anything to suffocate the champ through seven rounds in their first bout before "Money" was able to pull the fight to the center of the ring and tag his rugged challenger with solid punches en route to a majority decision victory.
