Kanye West Declares Himself 'Most Influential Person in Footwear'
Forget Jimmy Choo, Christian Louboutin or even Nike. Kanye West has declared himself the "most influential person in footwear." Speaking to Power 105.1, the rapper and aspiring designer touched on a range of topics including his desire to democratize fashion.
Talking about Adidas's limited run of his Yeezy Boosts — the sneakers retail for $350 and, after selling out, are now being resold online for over $1,500 — West admits he doesn't like the "separatism" in fashion right now. "Ain't no limited release of College Dropout," the rapper noted before making a comment on class itself. "You want to be upper class, you want to be first class, but when the plane crash, everybody dead," West said.
When hosts DJ Envy and Charlamagne tha God seemed to criticize Yeezy Boosts for being too fashion forward and less street ready, West shot back with, "Humbly, I'm the most influential person in footwear."
"You can't say that humbly," Envy replied. "Well, then, truthfully..." Yeezy corrected.
All in all, West was calmer and more humble than usual during the hour-long interview which ranged from music to celebrity to fashion, especially compared to his now-infamous sit down with Sway Calloway.
