Over a year ago, Joey Bada$ got the ultimate co-sign: he added Malia Obama to his growing fanbase.

Following a photo of President Obama's daughter rocking a Pro Era T-shirt that went viral, the rapper immediately noticed that there was no question he was on the radar of the Secret Service. 

As told to the NY Post, it was when Joey realized that a tree that had been in his yard for years suddenly disappeared, that he had a hunch what was going on.

“There was a tree outside my door that shaded my whole house,” he said during the interview. “It had been there for years. But when that s**t with Malia went down, the tree was gone. The timing was too suspicious. I guess they [had] to get clearer pictures!”

The rapper also feels his phone has been tapped ever since, but isn’t worried about it, saying he has nothing to hide and is "only doing positive things.”

Having the endorsement from the president’s daughter is something Joey Bada$ is grateful for, adding that he’d “love to thank Malia in person.”

“It’ll be a weird encounter, because the Secret Service guys are gonna be there and they’re gonna be tapping the whole conversation,” he laughed during the interview. “But nonetheless, I’m down!”
