Getting tasered while getting arrested is the epitome of adding insult to injury.

That's the ordeal that Los Angeles Rams running back Tre Mason faced over the weekend in Florida, when police used a stun gun on him, sending the 22-year-old to the hospital in the process.

According to ESPN, police started to follow Mason after seeing him driving more than twice the legal speed limit in a 35-mile-per-hour zone. Making matters worse, as police pulled up closer to his Porsche, they smelled marijuana.

The cop claims that Mason refused to give his name and hand the officer his driver's license.

"I warned the defendant if he did not identify himself he would be subject to arrest and he smirked as he was making eye contact," officer Lester Cochenour wrote in his report, as obtained by ESPN.

The officer adds that Mason showed great resistance, paving the way for him to be tasered.

"The defendant was warned several times in a composed voice to stop resisting, exit the vehicle and if he did not comply with arrest, a Taser would be used," the officer additionally wrote.

When it was all said and done, Mason was tasered while being arrested, and was sent to the hospital, where he was later released.

He's facing charges of reckless driving, suspicion of possession of marijuana, resisting arrest and a failure to register a motor vehicle. Damn... were those extra charges worth it, Tre?

Needless to say, the Rams are disappointed in their 22-year-old rusher.

"We are very disappointed to learn of an incident involving Tre Mason in the Miami, Fla., area Saturday afternoon," the Rams said in a statement Sunday, as reported by ESPN. "We are in the process of obtaining more information about the facts surrounding this incident and will have no further comment at this time."
