Judge Mathis Responds To Allegation That He Spat On Valet During An Argument
Judge Greg Mathis is speaking out for the first time after a valet accused the TV personality of spitting on him during an argument.
According to TMZ, the popular celebrity judge parked his Rolls-Royce at Flood's Bar and Grille in Detroit last Friday night. After reportedly waiting 15 minutes for the valet to return with his keys, Mathis is said to have exploded into a profanity-laced frenzy in front of passersby and customers.
The valet told police that after he apologized for the delay in returning Mathis' keys, the judge spat on him then fled the scene. A report was then filed against Mathis, accusing him of committing criminal assault.
Mathis recently defended himself to TMZ, stressing that the valet's claims were all false.
"First of all, it was a 40-minute wait. And when he came, I yelled at him and asked why would he take my car for 40 minutes, or the keys to my car," he said in a live video. "And he began to apologize, and then he said something I think, 'I went to the store,' or something that was more ridiculous than the apology. So we had a verbal back and forth and that was the extent of it. It was no spitting."
He was adamant that there were "six witnesses there if they want to ask them," and he even added that the restaurant owner's son asked if he wanted to do something about it.
"I said, 'No, let it go,' and that was the extent of it," he said. "I don't know if this is a money grab, which I suspect it is, but you know, this happens all the time."

According to Page Six, however, the valet's lawyer, Karri Mitchell, claims that the supposed spit was not just on the valet's face, but also on his shirt. Mitchell added that, due to this, they plan to conduct a DNA test to prove the valet's claim.
Detroit police are currently investigating.
