Jay Z's TIDAL Takeover Begins

Hov's one-of-two B-Sides concert streams live from New York.

UPDATE: Roc La Familia joined Jay Z on stage.

Beanie Sigel and Hova hugged it out for the year's best rap reunion, alongside State Property brethren Freeway and Young Gunz. Jay Electronica made his rare appearance, and Jeezy made the crowd "Go Crazy."

The Fella's fest concluded with one of Jay's signature notes, his first-ever promotional single and hidden track, "Dead Presidents."

Manning the stage dolo (save for his band), with an I95 South sign in the background and Timbs on his feet, Jay Z takes us on a trip down memory lane to once again declare: this TIDAL wave is the holy water we've been waiting for.

And we all know Jay likes to give out water (see Africa and NY20).

"I was the first on the cover of XXL," when The Source was the No. 1 hip hop magazine, he reminded the New York audience Saturday night (May 16), live from his TIDAL B-Sides concert. "... I never go with the flow."

Never one to waste a promo drop either, Jay added in a shout out to his new music streaming service. "We ain't gonna let nobody take our music," he said. And for emphasis, "... Don't ever go with the flow, be the flow."

Hov's words of guidance came amid renditions of songs ike, 1997's "Where I'm From" and 1996's "Politics As Usual" to more obvious hits like "Jigga My N***a" and buried gems like "Murda Marcyville."

The concert is ongoing, live streaming for free via Tidal with a continuation planned for Sunday. Stay tuned.
