Who Is ‘The Real’ President?: Kamala Harris, Charlamagne Tha God Engage In Heated Exchange
Charlamagne Tha God is never afraid to ask a question – even if it’s to the vice president.
The radio and host of Comedy Central’s The God’s Honest Truth asked Vice President Kamala Harris to name the country’s “real president,” and things got a little testy.
"It's Joe Biden. And don't start talking like a Republican about asking whether or not he's president," Harris told Charlamagne on Friday (December 17). "It's Joe Biden," Harris repeated with her voice escalating. "And I'm vice president, and my name is Kamala Harris.
"The reality is, because we are in office, we do the things like the child tax credit, which is going to reduce Black child poverty by 50 percent," she continued. "So I hear the frustration, but let's not deny the impact that we've had.”
The heated back-and-forth came after a Harris aide attempted to try to wrap up the remote interview before the VP could answer CTG’s question during a taping of their sit-down earlier on Friday.
Charlemagne then accused Harris and her team of pretending they couldn’t hear the question that put Biden against West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin, who often splits with his own Democratic Party on issues and bills that come to the Senate floor, creating a major shift in policy proposals before potentially arriving at Biden’s desk.
"I can hear you," Harris responded, before saying, "C'mon, Charlamagne. It's Joe Biden."
Charlamagne then praised Harris’ forceful response, saying, "That Kamala Harris, that's the one I like. That's the one that was putting the pressure on people in Senate hearings. That's the one I'd like to see more often out here in these streets."
