Eminem Announces 'Total Slaughter' Rap Battle
Eminem's battle league Total Slaughter will hold a live lyrical bout in New York this summer, the Detroit MC, Shady Films, and WatchLOUD.com announced Monday (April 28).
The three-hour rap race will take place at New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom on July 12, and will be preceded by a Road to Total Slaughter documentary to air on WatchLoud.com in June.
"Total Slaughter gives Shady Films, along with Slaughterhouse and WatchLOUD, the platform to launch battle rap to the next level,” said Paul Rosenberg, Em's manager and president of Shady Records and Shady Films. “We are very passionate and excited about battling and we see it as a sport that deserves the same level of organization and respect as any other competitive league.”
MCs Loaded Lux and Murda Mook will lead the first face-off, going against each other for the first time since 2003. Second in line to battle are Slaughterhouse MC, Joe Budden and Brooklyn-born rhyme-smith Hollow Da Don.
One person who won't be taking the stage? Eminem. "I don't think at this point it would make any sense," concluded Rosenberg.
Tickets for Total Slaughter go on sale Friday, May 16 via Ticketmaster.
