Justin Bieber May Star Alongside Mark Wahlberg In Drama

Paramount negotiating starring role for the singer.

Justin Bieber may be making his dramatic big screen debut, according to Deadline.com. Paramount Pictures is in negotiations with the singer for an untitled drama that will revolve around street basketball. If the deal goes through, Bieber will co-star with Oscar nominee Mark Wahlberg.

The negotiations come after Bieber's documentary Never Say Never minted money for Paramount by grossing $97 million worldwide. Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson will produce the film, along with with Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun. The script will be written by Ian Edelman, creator of HBO’s How To Make It In America, which is executive-produced by Wahlberg and Levinson, who hold the same titles on Entourage and Boardwalk Empire.

The tone of the project is described as The Color of Money-meets-The Karate Kid, and the inspiration for it came from Wahlberg and Levinson seeing Bieber play ball in February’s NBA All-Star Game, where Bieber showed that he could actually hoop and was named MVP.
