Which Straight Outta Compton Star Landed a Role in the Barack Obama Biopic?
The coming end of the Barack Obama presidency means nostalgia is running deep, so it's no surprise that America's transformative POTUS will be memorialized in a number of biopics. Southside With You, about Barack's sweet courtship with Michelle Obama, has already stormed Sundance and secured a distribution deal, and hot on its heels will come Barry, a film about the president's college days at Columbia University.
We already know that newcomer Devon Terrell (not to be confused with the rapper Devvon Terrell) will play a young Barry O in the film directed by Vikram Gandhi. Now, Variety reports that one of Hollywood's hottest rising stars has joined the cast: Straight Outta Compton's Jason Mitchell.
It's not clear who Mitchell will play in the film, though it seems likely it will be some kind of friend of Obama's. Also joining the cast is Boyhood star Ellar Coltrane, again in an unspecified role.
Regardless, a film about a future president running around the New York City of the 1980s? Sign us up.
