Boosie BadAzz Rallies To Change The NBA Logo In Honor Of Kobe Bryant
As the world continues coming to terms with the shocking passing of sports icon Kobe Bryant, Louisiana emcee Boosie BadAzz has stepped forward with a suggestion as to how the NBA can do its part to honor Bryant’s illustrious life and legacy.
In the wake of the tragic news, Boosie took to Instagram, where he paid his condolences to the Lakers' legend in an emotional video posted to the platform on Sunday (Jan. 26).
“Rest in peace, Kobe," Boosie said in the IG video. “This s**t [is] sad, dawg.”
He continued, “It's only right that the NBA take Jerry West off the logo and put Kobe Bryant on the logo, man. That's only right, man. F**k that, man. You gotta put Kobe Bryant on the NBA logo.”
Moments later, Boosie shared a mock-up for the redesigning of the logo. In place of the traditional red and blue colors, the re-imagined template featured the trademark purple and gold colors of the Los Angeles Lakers with a white silhouette of Bryant dribbling a basketball down the court. Both post’s comments sections quickly filled up with co-signs as fans chimed in to endorse Boosie’s proposal, however, the NBA has yet to respond to Boosie’s remarks.

Shortly after reports confirming the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the life of Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna “Gigi” Bryant, and seven others, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban announced in a statement that the franchise will retire their No. 24 jersey in honor of the 41-year-old's memory.
But given the fact that few other athletes have left a mark on the world of the same magnitude as Bryant’s, who famously played the entirety of his illustrious 20-season long career on the Lakers team, it would be a sorely missed opportunity for the NBA not to do something meaningful in commemoration of a man who went on to become one of the league’s greatest and most decorated athletes of all time.
