Sevyn Streeter Says the NBA Wouldn't Let Her Perform National Anthem In a 'We Matter' Jersey
She was scheduled to sing at the 76ers season opener.
Looks like the NBA season is already off to a controversial start.
Sevyn Streeter posted a video on social media on Wednesday night explaining that her scheduled performance of the national anthem at the Philadelphia 76ers' season opening game was canceled because she was wearing a Black Lives Matter shirt.
Streeter posted a video to her Twitter explaining that she was told she couldn't perform because her "We Matter" jersey is too controversial for primetime. "I'm at the 76ers game to sing the national anthem and the organization is telling me that I can't because I'm wearing a 'We Matter' jersey," she said.
