How To Include Vaseline Into Your Summer Skincare Routine
Vaseline has been known as a healing agent in the Black community for years. It has been an essential item guaranteed to be seen in medicine cabinets, drawers , or atop your grandmother's dresser. Dermatologists from The Vaseline Healing Project say the inexpensive, standard product can do wonders for the body's largest organ, the skin.
"It never occurred to us to prioritize basic remedies like Vaseline Jelly for a medical mission until we traveled to Jordan for the first time," said Dr. Grace Bandow, a participant in Vaseline's first dermatological mission.
“We were inspired to learn that a simple product like Vaseline could make an enormous difference in the daily life of someone living on the front lines of crisis and disaster,” says Dr. Bandow. I wish it didn’t sound so dramatic, but Vaseline changes lives.
"On-the-ground, we realized how the simplest skin remedies – sometimes taken for granted in our lives – can make an extraordinary difference. We were happy to have been asked to participate in The Vaseline Healing Project's first mission and contribute to the larger cause." - Dr. Bandow and Dr. Samer Jaber shared.
When it comes to summer skincare, we stress the usual important stuff-practicing sun protection. But what about removing makeup, exfoliating, and keeping your skin moisturized?
Below are ways to incorporate Vaseline into your Summer skincare routine.
Vaseline is taking action for the Black and Latinx communities disproportionately affected by the Coronavirus pandemic. Since 2015, in partnership with Direct Relief, Vaseline has helped those in need to get access to the care they deserve. The brand helps support a critical safety net of nonprofit health centers and clinics.
These facilities provide affordable, comprehensive, and culturally competent health services to more than 30 million of the country's most vulnerable residents – over half whom are members of Black and Latinx communities hit hardest by the pandemic. For more information, visit vaseline.com.
Makeup Remover
Vaseline can be used as an all-over makeup remover; it also gets rid of tough waterproof mascara.
Night Cream or Moisturizer
No, it won't clog your pores. The greasy consistency of petroleum jelly might make you think that putting it on your face would leave you covered in pimples, but this is not the case. Vaseline is non-comedogenic and can be used as an effective facial moisturizer. It is best used as a night cream to avoid being oily in the morning.
DIY Scrub
Mix Vaseline with sea salts to create a scrub to use on your face, body, and lips.
