It's been announced that Atlanta rapper, T.I. and actor Mekhi Phifer have signed on with Tip as a slave named Cyrus who fights for freedom as a member of the Union Army, and Phifer as the mute slave, Jerusalem.
These two join Anika Noni Rose, Laurence Fishburne, Derek Luke, Forest Whitaker and other accomplished actors and actresses for the reboot. Mario Van Peebles will be involved as one of the miniseries' many directors.
It should also be noted that The Roots' Questlove is the music executive producer, and Will Packer (Straight Outta Compton, The Wedding Ringer, Obsessed) will serve as an executive producer for the project.
