Box Office: Guardians of the Galaxy Tops Slow Weekend
No big surprises at the box office this weekend, especially not the continued dismay over lack of attendance at the movies. Guardians of the Galaxy seems to be all anyone wants to see for the sixth weekend in a row, topping the box office with an additional $10.6 million in ticket sales. The film, starring Zoe Saldana and Chris Pratt, has grossed a whopping $294.6 million
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles once again followed in second place, with $6.5 million and a domestic total of $174 million. Taking third place was spiritual drama If I Stay, starring Chloe Moretz, while buddy comedy Let's Be Cops, starring Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr. and action thriller The November Man rounded out the top five.
Next week, Idris Elba and Taraji P. Henson will attempt to rescue us from box office boredom with No Good Deed while Morgan Freeman and Ashley Judd will aim for the family crowd with A Dolphin Tale 2. But will either have what it takes to remove Guardians from its first place stronghold?
