All-Pro Andre Johnson’s Hamstring Has Houston on Edge

The Texans’s playoff aspirations could be imperiled if the star wide receiver can’t suit up again soon.

HOUSTON — A once-promising season could be jeopardy if the Houston Texans aren’t able to get star wide receiver and primary play maker Andre Johnson back in the lineup soon.

Johnson, one of the top receivers in the NFL, was injured during the second quarter of the Texans win over Pittsburgh Sunday. Houston head coach Gary Kubiak said Monday he was unsure of the extent of Johnson’s injury or when he might return. The team is seeking outside opinions on Johnson’s hamstring injury, Kubiak said.

“He’s going to miss some time,” the coach said.  “I don’t know if that’s three or four days. I don’t know if that’s a few weeks. I don’t know right now.”

Obviously, the Texans’ season hangs in the balance while Johnson recovers. They are tied for first place in the AFC South with a 3-1 record, and are looking to make the first playoff run in team history this season.

The crowd at Reliant Stadium held its collective breath Sunday as Johnson lay sprawled across the turf in obvious pain following a 13-yard reception. The fans clearly understand that the team’s fate this season will very likely depend on how quickly Johnson returns.
