Nine More Women Accuse Bill Cosby Of Sexual Assault In Nevada
Disgraced actor Bill Cosby has been accused of sexual battery, assault and abuse by nine more women in the state of Nevada, CBS News reports.
The plaintiffs allege in a federal court filing Wednesday (June 14) that Cosby used his "enormous power, fame, and prestige" to prey on them with unwanted sexual advances. According to the suit, the alleged sexual encounters took place between 1979 and 1992.
One woman claims that Cosby, who was her acting mentor, “lured her from New York to Nevada” into a hotel room where she was drugged after drinking a beverage he said was non-alcoholic sparkling cider and then raped her.
The suit comes on the heels of Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo signing a bill that eradicated a two-year deadline for adults to file sexual abuse cases.
Lise-Lotte Lublin, a Nevada native and one of the plaintiffs in the suit, became a staunch advocate of repealing the law after she accused Cosby of spiking her drink and raping her at a hotel in Las Vegas in 1989.
"For years I have fought for survivors of sexual assault and today is the first time I will be able to fight for myself," Lotte-Lublin said in a statement. "With the new law change, I now have the ability to take my assailant Bill Cosby to court. My journey has just begun, but I am grateful for this opportunity to find justice."
On Wednesday, Cosby’s publicist Andrew Wyatt harshly criticized the new law and the lawsuit.
"Mr. Cosby is a Citizen of these United States but these judges and lawmakers are consistently allowing these civil suits to flood their dockets — knowing that these women are not fighting for victims — but for their addiction to massive amounts of media attention and greed," Wyatt argued.
"From this day forward, we will not continue to allow these women to parade various accounts of an alleged allegation against Mr. Cosby anymore without vetting them in the court of public opinion and inside of the courtroom."
The Nevada lawsuit is the latest accusation levied against Cosby. In June, he was accused by Victoria Valentino, a former Playboy model of sexually assaulting her and another woman over five decades ago. In 2022, he was found guilty in a civil trial of sexually assaulting Judy Huth, who was a teenager in the 1970s.
After being convicted of sexual assault in 2018 and serving three years in prison, Pennsylvania judges ruled that Cosby should not have been prosecuted in an earlier sexual assault case. Eventually, his sentence was vacated and he was released from prison in 2021.
To date, over 60 women have accused Cosby of sexual abuse spanning several decades.
