Teedra Moses Joins Maybach Music
New Orleans-born, Los Angeles-raised singer-songwriter Teedra Moses has officially joined Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group. Fans were speculating on the move all week, after the singer, who has been independent for years following her 2004 release Complex Simplicity, spoke fondly of the label in an interview on Vibe.com earlier this week: “I like the way they move, and I like the hunger over, and I like that it's all about work,” she said. “As much as Rick talks about the glitz and glamour or whatever, he goes hard and he works hard, so I rock with that. And that's what I do. I work hard, I rock shows, I touch the people and I try to make good music. I'm not really into the hoopla.”
This move makes her the first lady of Maybach Music, as she joins labelmates Rick Ross and Wale. Though her last studio album was seven years ago, Teedra has kept plenty busy, releasing four mixtapes (available for free download) and contributing her songwriting skills to Raphael Saadiq, Mary J. Blige and Macy Gray projects. Her latest album, the heavily anticipated The Young Lioness, is expected later this year.
